Summary
The long tail — browser extensions, CSS studies, analytics filters, mock servers, sync bridges and form builders. Individually small; collectively the reason the larger products have fewer surprises in them.

Why keep them

Every one of these started as a problem inside a bigger product that deserved to be isolated: how to detect an ad blocker without lying to the user, how to draw a progress bar with no JavaScript, how to make heatmap rendering fast enough to feel instant, how to gate a price without leaking it to the client.

Solving them in isolation is faster than solving them inside a large application, and the answer usually gets folded back in.
